This blog was originally to serve as my project for my research class. I had chosen a "fun topic" which involved one of my passions, which is horses. After picking my topic I discovered my husband had become diagnosed with malignant melanoma. My fun topic, "Dancing Horses" took a back seat. I would now like to share what I have researched on Malignant Melanoma. Please take the time to learn to protect your loved ones. I hope you will learn something, as I did from this project.

Welcome to my BLOG! My purpose in continuing this Blog is to help educate the public about the dangers associated with the sun (UV Rays) and tanning beds; both which contribute to the developement of Melanoma of the both the skin and eye. I will share what I have learned to help prevent Melanoma and what to expect should you be told you or a loved one have Melanoma. I may from time to time deviate for other educational opportunities, but I hope you continue to learn to protect yourselves, and those you care about from this aggressive cancer. I am a registered nurse with over 33 years experience. If I do not know the answers to a particular question , I have learned how to obtain them. I do not intend to portray or represent myself as any sort of "Expert", only as someone who has learned about Melanoma the hard way. I hope to help others avoid the same experience I have, which is having a loved one be diagnosed with Melanoma. Almost half of the estimated 60,000 new cases of melanoma projected this year will occur in 10 states. The following is a list of 10 states with estimated new cases of melanoma per 100,000 people.

- I am a registered nurse, currently working in a busy speciality Emergency Department as the Nurse Manager. I am also working toward my Masters Degree in Management with a concentration in Healthcare. I have had a long time love affair with animals; especially dogs and horses. Hippotherapy is a field that is very interesting and a wonderful therapy for people with special needs.I like your title--Dancing with Horses
Having Hippotherapy on the South Shore is much needed for a the special needs population especially when it is directed by an experienced Registered Nurse.
